Our Topic this term is...
"Sow, Grow and Farm"

In the Sow, Grow and Farm project, your child will learn about allotments in the United Kingdom and how the government encouraged people to have them to support food rationing during the Second World War.

They will learn about food webs and animal life cycles, including how living things are dependent on one another within a habitat. They will investigate the different ways that plants reproduce and will dissect flowering plants to identify the different structures.

They will have the opportunity to learn about farming in the United Kingdom and the techniques used in modern farming, including the challenges that farmers face.

They will learn about the benefits of eating seasonally and about the pros and cons of importing food. They will also learn about world farming and how the different climate zones affect where different foods can be grown.

Year 4 & 5 Trellech

The Year 4 and 5 children enjoyed a wonderful day at Trellech Primary School, taking part in a series of events such as football, netball, team building skills, indoor activities and music.

The basis of the session was developing team work and learning how to solve conflict.

The children had a great time!

Year 5 Commonwealth Games

Well done to the Year 5 team that represented Pillowell School at the Commonwealth Games at Viney Hill Activity Centre, managing to record 1st place!

The children took part in a range of sporting events and team work activities.

We are really proud of you!

Nerf Guns

As an end of primary school treat, the Year 6 children took part in a Nerf Gun experience, during the afternoon, on the school field.

The children took part in shooting practise to begin with and then a variety of team and group games.

It was a brilliant afternoon, with lots of fun!

Year 5 at Dean Academy

Year 5 enjoyed a wonderful taster day at The Dean Academy.

They got chance to take part in Science, looking at gases, PE, where they got to explore cricket, Music, learning how to play the guitar and computing.

They also got to sample the school dinners, which were a great success! Well done everyone!
