Our Topic this term is
'A Child's War'

A siren sounds, a building crumbles, a Spitfire zooms overhead. Take cover! It's 1939 and Britain is at war. Deep down in the Anderson shelter, learn why nations are fighting and why child evacuees must make the long journey from their homes and families into unknown territory.

Read the diary of Anne Frank, written whilst hiding from the terrifying stormtroopers in a secret annexe, and try to empathise with her hopes and fears.

Make do and mend - and cook up a family meal from meagre rations. Delve deep into a bygone era, where loose lips sank ships.

And, as peace is declared, let's get ready to celebrate. Mr Churchill says 'It's an unconditional surrender!

Mountain Biking Club

It was the last mountain biking session of the year and the children were taken on a special route by mountain instructor Dan.

As you can see here, the children had a great time going downhill from mud and puddles.

Mountain biking will start back up after February half term!

Viney Hill Centre

Four lucky children from Hockney class were chosen to take part in team work and communication skills activity at Viney Hill centre.

The children got the chance to take part in climbing walls, stacking crates and throwing beanbags.

All the children overcame obstacles and challenges, I am really proud of them all! Well done!

Dean Academy

Hockney class had a brilliant time at Dean Academy taking part in a Science and cookery themed day. The children tested how much energy was in different types of vegetables using the bunsen burners in Science and then having the chance to make their very own healthy muffins as part of cookery.

It was a super day and a special thank you to Dean Academy for inviting us in!

Cheltenham Literature Festival

Hockney class had a wonderful time at the Cheltenham Literature Festival seeing Cressida Cowell.

The children managed to buy a book and get it signed by the author. Well done to all involved!

Cross Country

Well done to the Year 5 and 6 children who took part in the cross country competition at Five acres on Thursday. The children ran almost a mile in windy and cold conditions.

Well done to Olivia who finished 23rd and Liam who finished 49th out of 100 girls and boys races respectively. Excellent effort all!

Young Voices

In preparation for the young voices concert on the 16th January 2020. The children took part in their first practise today at lunch time.

The club is being ran by Mrs Matthews and Mr Forster. Good to see so many children attending!
