Our Topic this term is
'Beast Creator'

A bug, a creepy-crawly, a beast! He'll tickle your skin then go in for the sting!

Arachnids, invertebrates, molluscs and myriapods, hiding in nooks and beneath darkened rocks... Come search for these minibeasts, and let's sort them out! How many legs? How many wings? Who does it eat and who eats it? Can you classify it? Can you draw it or make it?

Build a bug hotel or a wonderful wormery - then watch them wriggle and burrow, mixing earth as they go!

Discover where in the world you'll find the deadliest beasts - scorpions, ants and venomous spiders... perhaps the Vespa mandarina japonica is the one that you fear?

Why not become a 'Beast Creator'? Selectively breed a killer predator that saves the world from the super-strong aphid.

You'll be a hero!

But I know an old lady who swallowed a fly. I don't know why she swallowed a fly... perhaps she'll die?

Hockey at Dean Academy

On Thursday, some of the children took part in a Hockey competition at Dean Academy. There were two teams, PIllowell A and B team, with Pillowell A finishing in 3rd place and taking home a bronze medal!

Well done all involved!

Dean Heritage Centre

Hockney class took part in a Science themed day at the Dean Heritage Centre. The children got to explore habitats in the forest and also experiment with different types of properties, making bug houses and fires. A special thank you to Mr Dean for creating this day.

The children were treated to hot dogs for lunch! Well done everybody!

Well done to the Year 5 and 6 children who took part in the Netball competition at Dean Academy on Thursday 13th February.

The children got chance to play competitively against a range of other schools, really enjoying the afternoon!
