Our Topic this term is
'Scream Machine'

Roll up, roll up! You're going on a day trip to a theme park to soak up the unique sights, smells and sounds of the fair.

Learn about the science behind roller coasters and write poems that are shaped as a loop the loop. Design your own theme park and show your ideas on a digital map.

Testing, Testing! Time for some mini investigations, Cam mechanisms, pendulums, pulleys and prototypes. Let's go behind the scenes to see forces at work.

Good news! The engineers at 'Scream Towers' love your work and want you to build a death-defying new drop ride for a theme park. Make a working model and test it out with uncooked eggs. Cracking stuff!

Okay, ready to ride? Don't forget to scream if you want to go faster

Christingle

As preparation for the Christingle in the evening, the children of Hockney class have been making Christingles.

As you can see from the photos the children have done a good job, however, it was hard trying to stop them from eating the sweets!

Well done everyone!

Ginger Bread

The children of Hockney class have been getting into the festive spirit by decorating a ginger bread man and also a Christmas bauble.

The children had a wonderful time using coloured icing, hundreds and thousands, chocolate chunks, smarties and many more tasty sweets.

A huge thank you to Lilly W and Hazel's Nan for the lovely donation of gingerbread, sweets and icing. You made the children's day and I can't thank you enough!

A lovely afternoon!

Sports Hall Athletics

On Thursday, a mixture of Year 5 and 6 boys and girls took part in the Sports hall Athletics competition at Dean Magna School.

Despite where they finished, the children had a fantastic time, putting every bit of effort possible into each event.

Well done to all of those children who took part!

Mini Marines 8

It was a mucky and cold Mini Marines visit this week, as the children went up onto the School field to take part in team building exercises.

Despite the weather conditions, the children had a fabulous time, showing great effort throughout all the sessions this year! Well done Hockney class!

Rodley House

Some of the children in Hockney class took a visit to Rodley House care home in Lydney, where they performed a range of songs from their upcoming Christmas play called 'Stable Manners', as well as singing more traditional Christmas carols.

The children had a great time, as you can see from the videos. The audience were pleased with what they saw, which is always an added bonus!

Thank you for having us Rodley House. Merry Christmas!

World War 1

After focusing heavily on WW1 last week for the centenary of WW1, the children had a very worthwhile visit from Nikolai's Grandfather.

He showed the children a range of WW1 memorabilia, taught them how to act and march like soldiers and also demonstrated how to put a fire out. It was a lovely visit and end to this topic.

A big thank you to both Nikolai's Mum and Grandfather for all of their hard work making the children's afternoon extra special

Poppy Art

As part of the centenary year for WW1, the children have created some lovely Poppy Art to mark 100 years since WW1.

The children have tried really hard on this! Well done!
