Our Topic this term is
'Muck, Mess & Mixtures'

Let’s get messy! Our first topic of the new school year is Muck, Mess and Mixtures. Muck and mess is good! In fact, it’s mega-marvellous!

Pour, mix, stir, splat! We will be working with liquids, squishing dough and checking out the slushiest and mushiest foods. We will be writing recipes, instructions, riddles and poems - there are loads of scrummy words to describe messy mixtures!

View our topic web to see what else we will be getting up to this term and don’t worry about the mess… it’ll always wash!

In English this week we have been looking at recipes. We read one of Roald Dahl's Revolting Recipes and followed the instructions to make a 'Fizzy Lifting Drink'.

We looked at all the bossy verbs in the recipe and then came up with some of our own!

As part of our topic, Muck, Mess and Mixtures, we have been experimenting in Science. We were trying to find out what happened when we mixed different things with water.

We found out that some dissolved, some changed colour and some even made bubbles!

In Maths this week, Lowry class have been learning all about capacity. We had a race to see who could empty their bucket of water the fastest. Each team had a different sized container. We learnt that the team with the biggest container would win because it had the largest capacity.

We had great fun and learnt a lot about capacity!
